International Door to Door Move - from Overseas to China

The process for moving from overseas to China is a similar as moving from China to overseas.

With over 15 years of experience in international moving industry, KMI has successfully managed many door to door moves to China from allover the world (US, Canada, European countries, Australia, HK, Taiwan, Singapore and other Asian countries)

The following 7 steps will lead you the way to a successful ‘door to door’ move.

Step 1–Premove Survey
Contact KMI, providing the address and contact details of your overseas home. KMI will assign an accredited overseas partner to come to your home for the premove survey.

Step 2–Quotation and Confirmation
Based on the survey results provided by our overseas partner, KMI will create a moving package specifically tailored to your relocation needs with realistic cost-effective rates. The moving package will be sent to you in short time via fax/email/handover at your convenience. You will find all details in this moving package – competitive rates, inclusion/exclusion, insurance policy/premium, requirement on customs document, payment term, moving schedules etc…

Shortly after the moving package sent out, your moving specialist will contact you to answer your questions and discuss any aspect details you may concern.

Once the quotation is accepted, please sign and chop by company stamp (if company pay) and fax the copy to our office. Packing date/time will be setup according to your time schedule.

Step 3–Get Goods Ready for Packing
       Insurance
       KMI has arranged a comprehensive program of household goods transit
       insurance underwritten by American Home Assurance Company (a member
       company of AIG). The insurance premium is calculated at a percentage of
       your declared value.

       An Insurance Declaration Inventory Form will be delivered to you for
       completion. Please read carefully of insurance terms shown on reverse side
       of application form before fill-in.

       It is most import that your completed Insurance Declaration Form is
       returned to us prior to commencement of the packing.

       Customs Paperwork Preparation
       Please refer to our moving package in the section of ‘Customs Clearance
       in Origin & Destination’ for the documents required. Make sure to get it
       ready before packing. For certain destinations the overseas customs forms
       can only be completed after your arrival in your new country.

Step 4–Professional Packing
Your goods will be packed and protected by a professional packing crew.

The packing supervisor will communicate with you during the packing and make sure all your requirement is followed carefully and strictly.

Organized by the packing supervisor, packers will start to pack your goods with suitable packing material, with heavy/bulky items/valuables often being specially crated so to ensure that each piece of goods receives the best protection during its transportation.

Each packed boxes will be marked with a series number and description of content. A consistent packing inventory list will be made during the packing, you will be asked to sign on the packing list after packing to confirm the content inside and the packages. A copy will be then passed to you for records.

Once the packing is completed, the packing supervisor will inspect with you room by room to make sure nothing left behind before them leave.

Necessary paperwork (customs documents, original insurance form, contact form, job evaluation form, etc…) will be collected from you after packing.

Step 5–Origin Customs Clearance, Shipping and Storage
With necessary paperwork you provided, shipment will be cleared customs at origin. According to the time schedule, your possessions will be loaded and transported via the most reliable ocean carriers or airlines to its destination.

Your valuable possessions are handled with care at all times. Your shipment is always under constant tracking and supervision from port of origin to destination. You can check the status of your goods at any time.

We can provide storage for your possessions at either origin or destination upon your request.

Step 6–Destination Clearance and Delivery in China
If you are an expatriate working in China, you will need to apply for Employment Permit, Work Permit and Residence Card through your work unit. It always takes 4-6 weeks to get all paperwork ready.

Your personal contact in KMI will keep closely touch with you and your work unit to follow up the status of paperwork and give the proper time schedule to our overseas partner, to make sure your shipment arrives punctual and by the time of readiness of your paperwork.

KMI will be responsible to apply for Import Permit for your shipment as soon as your personal paperwork is available.

Please note that according to China Customs Regulation major electrical/electronics appliances, furniture, food, alcohol are subject to duty. We provide you with a dutiable items list for your reference.

Customs clearance at destination will be conducted immediately after goods arrival. For a FCL shipment, you can expect to receive your goods 4-5 working days after shipment arrival, while for LCL takes a bit longer 7-8 days, and 2-3 days for air shipment.

Your personal contact in KMI will call you immediately after clearance of shipment, to schedule a suitable delivery date/time according to your time schedule.

On delivery day all goods will be moved into your home, number checked during move-in, unpacked and placed according to your instruction. Re-assembly of furniture will be done and debris will be cleaned up after completion of delivery.

You will be asked to sign on Delivery Receipt & packing inventory list for acknowledge receipt of goods and confirmation of the goods condition. A Job Evaluation Form will be also asked to complete and sign.

Step 7–Payment
We credit 2 weeks for payment to corporate account moves. However, if move is to be paid by personal, we request full payment before delivery of shipment.
