Guidelines for Premove Packing & Preparation |
Many customers worry about preparing their household goods for export. Here are some tips to help make the job easier and your move as smooth as possible
Separate items that are for your air and sea
shipment, or leave behind
Separate goods from what to move and what definitely need with you before you
receiving your shipment (passports, tickets, flight bags, current used clothes, emergency files, medicine, etc…)
Ask for cartons and packing materials
from KMI by complete Packing
Materials Request Form if you intend to pack
some of your personal belongs in advance
The rule of thumb here is small, heavy articles such as books, records, canned goods etc. would go in smaller boxes; Bulkier but not-so-heavy articles, such as pots and pans, linens, small kitchen utensils etc. would go in somewhat larger boxes. Very bulky lightweight articles such as blankets, pillows, stuffed toys, large lampshades, shoes etc. would go into largest boxes.
Cover white paper and make necessary cushion inside of each carton before you place things into
Leave all packed cartons open. KMI packers are liable to check the packing condition and add more protection when necessary
Mark goods content clearly on external of each carton
Do not pack any fragile/liquid/electronics/bulky/heavy items by yourself, leave it to KMI packing crew for professional protection & handling
Do not pack any antique decoration/furniture, which must be inspected by Relic Officers before packing
Do not pack any prohibited or restricted items in your destination country, generally it refers to drugs, pornographic materials, arms, ammunition or similar articles and should there be any doubt, KMI will advise a course of action to be taken
Do not pack for moving on any flammables or explosives or corrosive goods such as aerosol spray cans, paint thinner, gasoline or anything else of a flammable or explosive nature
Do not pack any putrescibles, dispose them before moving
Leave everything at its original position in your house, it’s easier for us to pack this way
One the packing day, check every room and cupboard before we leave to make sure nothing is left behind
Keep all keys for trunks/suitcases with you safely, and have them available at destination for the customs inspection when requested
